Luke Skywalker in 120 minutes by zazB Luke Skywalker in 120 minutes by zazB
Same as the one before, My goal was to make it from sketch to colors in 2 hours or less. I went over the limit by 15 minutes, probably due to the fact I spent a bit of time finding references.

I like this exercise, but I may not post them all, you might get tired of them =P

Sketch is in blue colerase, inked with a brushpen and colored in photoshop.

Cool! My favorite Star Wars character. Like how this one came out.

Good exercise there. I need to get better with my time management. I've been out of practice with drawing for too long. I just have to figure out how to make time.

You're pic and commentary encouraged me. :)

Sorry for the horribly late reply!
Thank you, I hope you got to work on your drawings since you wrote me that!

No problem. Your very welcome. ^^

I haven't been able to practice drawing yet unfortunately. The folks I'm currently living with are non artist. They don't support my creativity but view it as a mere hobby and nothing more. I've been walking on eggshells around them, for awhile, trying to figure out a better way to make time. Ultimately, I need to find a better place, and move out of there. They're trying hard to discourage me, but I won't let them. In the most trying times, I must keep it strong. Even if I have nothing else to my defense, being strong is all that I have left. Seeing your art work as well as every other art works is what keeps me going. One day, I'll be posting more art works again along with you guys. Till then, you and every artist here on DA is an inspiration to me. :)

I am always impressed when some artist tries speed art...I mean I need two hours for the sketch alone...and normally need some hours for flat colors.

the sketch and the idea is really the part that takes the longest time. The more you draw the more you develop shortcuts for when you have to draw quickly. I must say though, that this is exhausting, so I usually don't do it for fun :P

Oh I will try to find those short cuts.
But since my drawings improved a bit they need a lot longer even.
I am sure the quick art thing can be very demanding, can't it?
BUt it surely is stunning.

Yay Luke done in a original style that showcases his still not totally accepting position of having to be a bad ass jedi...thank you for being original in a sea of the same old bull...

Me too! It's my favorite outfit of his. Especially because of the contrast it makes with Vador's dark silhouette in the movie.

Thanks! I love drawing utility belts. I think I could have gone a bit more creative with the design, but I chose to stick to what it looks like in the movie.

It always help to be faster, but what I like the most is that it forces me to organize this 2 hours.
I'll try different mediums to see what I'm the most efficient with.

Ahh... Luke Skywalker. The hero of the original Star Wars films. I could never forget about this guy even since my childhood. Played by the legendary Mark Hamill himself.

Seems pretty ironic that Luke stayed away from the Dark Side when tempted too, but it was Hamil who took up villianious roles like the Joker later on...

Yes indeed. I haven't forgotten that Mark Hamill also left a mark as the voice of the Joker throughout the heart of the 90s in those Batman cartoons. And his laughter is the best I've ever heard. In fact, I picture my Road Rovers OC, Geist, uttering a similar sounding laughter to the Joker's, only a little more deeper.
