I wanted to take a break from all the things I'm working on so I drew this. My goal was to take it from first sketch to colors in 2 hours.
I think it took me a little bit more than that, but the experiment was fun and I think I'll do more of that. As usual when I try something, I used Marine as my test subject :)

ah like the 90 minutes exercises Eric Kanete does, although he only does them in blakc and white. very nice. i like the mood of the image.

BTW is there a texture on the image, or is my monitor just messing with me?

Have you tried working in grayscale first (Sketch, lines and value) then adding a color layer on top, tweak the saturation, levels, curves, and touch up on a normal layer after all that? It's a very fast way of working.
