Short story; it’s a Transformers fan art! Drawn and inked be me and colored by Eve eve-bolt.deviantart.com/
Long story; I love the concept of the Transformers, even if I know it’s a franchise that exists mostly to sell toys. When the live-action movies were made I was excited because in my opinion the robots and the transformations looked amazing. Then I saw them and I was not so excited anymore. At the time I thought; if only they could get rid of those humans and focus on the robots punching each other! I now believe I was wrong and the thing to do would be to get rid of those caricature characters and focus on the relation between said robots and humans with both of them being more developed.
My inner 14 years old then said to me: Think you can do better, you overgrown kid? I had no idea if I could, but I wanted to try. So this is what I came up with: the story of a young woman escaping from the devastated Chicago of the last movie to get back to her family. What she doesn’t know is that her motorcycle is not what it appears to be anymore.
I did this image and it was a great deal of fun, researching into motorcycling, bike designs and actually drawing it. I don’t know if I can make it into something more than just an illustration, mostly because I don’t even know where I stand on the whole fan art/fan fiction thing. So there, if you have any opinion on that, feel free to leave a comment! Even if it’s only to discuss how challenging it is to draw and ink wheels in perspective
But man, this design and story idea are so neat- the robot-human relationship thing is really interesting.
I probably won't do this comic but those themes will be present in my big project, Trespasser
The design of your 'Con here is really nice; their look really looks like something that would plausibly become a motorcycle without breaking the mass shifting rule (Arcee from Transformers Prime, I love ya but really your alt mode should only turn into your leg or something).
Focusing on the deeper, emotional bonds between human and 'bot is something I love to see more of. Indeed, 'till all are one'.
Designing proper transformers is a lot of hard work!
I'm with you on Arcee, the design is awesome but I wonder where does she hide all those parts in motorcycle mode.
I must add that I'm still a bit jealous of yours!
We can both be jealous of eachother.
BTW, do you have an ArtStation account? If not, do you want one?
I don't have an ArtStation account, but I don't really know what it is. Is it like the new cghub?
Though I must say, there are a lot of better (and more productive) artists than me you should look up to! That being said, I'll try not to disappoint!
I'm thinking about the comic, but if I don't do it, I might still do illustrations about that story just for the fun of it
(To be fair and honest, I still love and respect the first TF movie. After all, that movie was the one that introduced me to TF, and of course, I have explored the past versions of it as well. The other movies just wasn't really good. I have watched the 4th movie and while it isn't great, it wasn't as bad as I expected.)
I'm pretty sure the movies will not look like this as long as they are directed by Michael Bay. The girl is not wearing short shorts
I still like the first movie too, mostly for the robots. The scenes with Blackout and Barricade are great and Optimus was not as murderous as in the sequels.
While I do respect what Mr Bay has done for the franchise, I feel that it will be best for another director to take over it. And if the director ever ask what direction it can take, I will suggest a mix of TF Prime and IDW Transformers. Good action and good stories.
it will get a huge following in Fanfic circles. it will get book offer, and character names will have to be change to avoid copyright infringement , and then a movie will be made about it: Fifty Shades of Metal, rated NC17, coming this fall
I'm sad I didn't think of that title first though
D: well you could try do a first page of each option/story..whenever you like more you keep going with the story! I like how this one sounds but I loveee Marine design too....hm! tough choice!
If you ever want to check some transformers stuff, I recommend Transformers animated, it was a good and fun cartoon series.
What's more interesting is it's NOT an autobot!
I wanted to have a different view point on the robot conflict than what we usually have. It seemed to me that a decepticon main character would be interesting. Especially if he has to be with a human to stay alive.
And that's what is interesting, as a Decepticon it's likely not going to be very nice but since it would likely be on the run from the human military, Autobots and it's fellow Decepticon and thus forced to work with and protect the squishy human. Opens up a lot of potential character development between the two.
