Transformers - Escape from Chicago

Description

Short story; it’s a Transformers fan art! Drawn and inked be me and colored by Eve eve-bolt.deviantart.com/

Long story; I love the concept of the Transformers, even if I know it’s a franchise that exists mostly to sell toys. When the live-action movies were made I was excited because in my opinion the robots and the transformations looked amazing. Then I saw them and I was not so excited anymore. At the time I thought; if only they could get rid of those humans and focus on the robots punching each other! I now believe I was wrong and the thing to do would be to get rid of those caricature characters and focus on the relation between said robots and humans with both of them being more developed.

My inner 14 years old then said to me: Think you can do better, you overgrown kid? I had no idea if I could, but I wanted to try. So this is what I came up with: the story of a young woman escaping from the devastated Chicago of the last movie to get back to her family. What she doesn’t know is that her motorcycle is not what it appears to be anymore.

I did this image and it was a great deal of fun, researching into motorcycling, bike designs and actually drawing it. I don’t know if I can make it into something more than just an illustration, mostly because I don’t even know where I stand on the whole fan art/fan fiction thing.

So there, if you have any opinion on that, feel free to leave a comment! Even if it’s only to discuss how challenging it is to draw and ink wheels in perspective :)

I can't speak for every artist, but I've found that I have more self-respect for my artwork when I go through the I-want-to-look-up-more-info-about-this-culture step while making a drawing. ex. Your research into motorcycling.

BTW, good job on those tires.
